Why the Future of Shopping Sits in the Seat of Sustainability

Posted by Ashley Renee on Oct 20th 2020

The face of shopping is quickly being replaced. As we progress forward, we will see how environmentally conscious consumers have shifted the business world towards their objectives. The future of shopping sits in the seat of sustainability.

Sustainable products far outweigh their counterparts. Consumers want to purchase products that enforce an environmental cause. Shoppers no longer find it meaningful to consume goods that are harmful to the environment. When asked, 8 out of 10 shoppers value sustainability. Out of these 8 shoppers, 70% of them would pay a 35% premium for environmentally conscious brands.

It’s clear the future forward consumer wants to purchase a product that creates a ripple effect. Purpose-driven consumers are willing to pay more for an environmentally friendly product in order to create a new normal within business production.

Human Design recognizes its brand’s role in the environment and actively takes a stand for sustainability. It’s not only about business exposure, it’s about promoting an eco-friendly brand. Human Design places a high value on the environment and wants consumers to do the same.

Lead Free Jewelry

Lead poses a serious threat to our environment. Lead is a highly toxic metal that cannot be properly recycled. This affects our soil, air, and waterways. Plants exposed to lead absorb the metal dust in their leaves or take up amounts of lead from the soil. Human Design’s base metal is stainless steel. Stainless steel is recyclable and poses no threat to the environment.

Nickel Free Jewelry

Jewelry manufacturers are also known to use nickel in their products because of the ease of production. Nickel may be less expensive to work with, but it is toxic. Constant exposure to nickel can cause a person to develop a nickel allergy and in extreme cases, cancer. Nickel compounds are carcinogenic and therefore can cause lung and nasal cancer. Human Design’s jewelry is nickel free.

Sustainable Packaging

Plastics take hundreds of years to break down and they account for most of the pollution you find in the ocean. Marine life including seabirds, whales, and sea turtles are eating plastic pollution and dying from choking and starvation. Businesses and consumers are actively taking a stand to reduce this. Making the switch over to biodegradable packaging constitutes future forward thinking. Soon, plastics will be a thing of the past. Human Design’s packaging is 100% biodegradable and compostable. Human Design is doing its part to save our oceans.
